[Also in Divisions A5, and B1-B2] Plant transpiration is regulated by treating the plant foliage with a composition comprising a preformed aqueous emulsion comprising petroleum wax having a melting point of 122‹ to 160‹ F., petroleum hydrocarbon oil having not more than 8 wt. per cent gel aromatics and a distillation range at 10 mm. Hg abs. of 300‹ to 500‹ F. and an emulsifying agent, the total concentration of wax and oil being 0.25 to 5 parts by weight to 100 parts by weight of water, the emulsion containing 0.125 to 4.875 parts wax and 0.125 to 4.875 parts oil per 100 parts emulsion, by a method wherein just before applying the emulsion there is added to it 0.25 to 1 part unemulsified hydrocarbon oil of the same characteristics as the oil in the emulsion. The composition may be applied by dipping, spraying &c. and may be used to treat vegetables, trees, grasses and ornamental plants.</p> |
