PURPOSE:To simplify the constitution of a printing apparatus, by using a carriage driving source both in the pressure contact and the separation of a paper feed roller. CONSTITUTION:When a gear 13 moving to an axial direction by a solenoid 18 is meshed with a gear 14, said gear 13 is revolved through a carriage driving motor 11 for moving the printing carriage 3 of a typewriter and a wire 20 is wound up. In this case, a pinch roller 25 for feeding paper while being contacted under pressure with an platen 6 subjected to electromotive driving is spaced apart from the platen 6 in response to winding-up. This carriage driving source is used both in the pressure contact and the separation of the paper feed roller to simplify the constitution of a printing apparatus such as a typewriter. |
