<p>9D-HL-14176 WASHING MACHINE A washing machine includes a fabric-receiving receptacle arranged, in the agitation mode, for movement in an orbital path. A plurality of annular ledges are formed on a downwardly and outwardly sloping portion of the bottom of the basket. Each of the annular ledges includes an outwardly facing vertical section for engaging the fabrics in the basket when the orbiting motion of the basket causes the vertical sections to move outwardly. Each of the ledges includes a generally horizontal, somewhat concave surface formed by a raised lip at the outer edge thereof. The raised lip causes water to be retained on the horizontal section to assist in the washing action and a plurality of apertures are formed in the horizontal section to discharge water and soil from the basket.</p> |
