PURPOSE:To prepare a thermal transfer foil for obtaining a transfer product having excellent surface properties, by strongly integrating a release varnish layer containing a thermally crosslinkable resin component and a picture pattern layer by curing said release varnish layer under heating at a crosslinking temp. or more. CONSTITUTION:After a release varnish layer 2 is applied to the surface of a substrate film 1 and the solvent component therein is evaporated, a picture pattern layer 3, a concealing layer 4 and an adhesive layer 5 are successively applied (printed) to the coated film 1. As the substrate film, a polyester film with a thickness of about 9-40mum high in heat resistance is desirable in order to withstand the heating process as mentioned hereinafter. The release varnish layer acts as the surface protecting layer of a final transfer product and contains a thermally crosslinkable resin component (e.g., amino resin). The thermally crosslinkable resin component in the release varnish layer, according to circumstances, in the picture pattern layer and the concealing layer is crosslinked and cured through a heating process as a final process to obtain a thermal transfer foil. |
