PURPOSE:To enable simple and highly efficient grinding work, by a method wherein electrical discharge machining and electrolytic machining are made to perform at the times of shallow machining and deep machining respectively by making use of a grinding wheel which is so prepared that while conductive zones are being formed discontinuously on the circumferential surface, the other parts are made into grinding zones. CONSTITUTION:A nonconductive grinding wheel 1 to be used for this machining method forms condutive zones 2 on the circumferential surface discontinuously and parts other than the conductive zones 2 are constituted as a thing having grinding zones 3 exposing nonconducting grinding stones as they are. At the time of shallow machining, electrical discharge machining is made to perform by connecting a slip ring brush 5 provided on a rotary shaft 4 of the grinding wheel 1 with a high voltage and low current power source A of an input power source PW along with a terminal 61 of a base 6, revolving the griding wheel 1 and touching it to a work M while a machining liquid is being supplied over the work M. On the one hand, at the time of deep machining, a groove is made to form on the work M by electrolytic machining by connecting the above-mentioned brush 5 and terminal 61 with a low voltage and high current power source B. |
