PURPOSE:To certainly peel off recording paper from an ink donor sheet, by a method wherein a thermal head is driven after a definite amount of the leading end part of the recording paper passes the printing part of the thermal head and a blank with a definite width is always formed to the leading end part of the recording paper. CONSTITUTION:When recording paper 8 is advanced to the direction shown by an arrow A and the leading end thereof reaches in the vicinity of a thermal head 4, said leading end of the recording paper 8 is detected by sensors 9, 10 to start the driving of a drive roller 6 while the recording paper 8 is passed between the printing part of the thermal head 4 and a back roller 5 in a state superposed on an ink donor sheet 1 and, after a definite amount is passed, thermal transfer recording is started. At this time, the recording paper 8 is advanced over a specific distance along with the sheet 1 and no recording is applied to the leading end thereof corresponding to said distance to always leave a blank 18 with definite width L. The recording paper 8 is caught at the leading end part thereof by the peeling member 19 above the drive roller 6 to be peeled off from the sheet 1. By utilizing the tenacity of the part of the blank 18, the leading end of the recording paper 8 can be certainly caught. The recording paper 8 after peeling is discharged to a discharge tray. |
