PURPOSE:To form a liquid crystal cell large in area and little expansive in thickness, by forming spacers placed in the inside of the cell thinner than the sealing material of the circumferential sealing parts, and holding the inside of the cell in reduced pressure. CONSTITUTION:A pair of glass electrode plates 1, 2 are opposite to each other, the sealing material 3 is fixed to the circumferential parts, the many spacers 6 thinner than said material 3 are arranged, and both electrode plates 1, 2 are stuck with the material 3. The liquid crystals are injected through an injection hole, and the inside of the cell is evacuated to eject an excess of the liquid crystals through an exit hole or the injection hole, resulting in bending the plates 1, 2 inside and bringing them into contact with the spacers 6 at the same time. Then, said hole or holes are sealed to obtain the liquid crystal cell. Since the inside of the cell is held in a reduced pressure, and the middle side is kept smaller in the distance between both plates 1, 2 than the circumferential parts, the cell is prevented from expanding like a convex lens. |
