PURPOSE:To prevent steel cords from rusting by wrapping up the end parts of steel cord layer of a radial tire with the covering layer made of organic fiber cords and arranging the wrapping parts so as to be in the optimum mutual relation with the steel cord layer. CONSTITUTION:A radial tire 1 has a tread 2, side walls 3, and beads 4. On the outside of a carcass 5 is laid a layer of belts 6, which consists of a composite layer composed of a steel cord layer 7 which is laid adjacent to the carcass 5 and an organic fiber cords 8 consisting of aromatic polyamide fiber cords. Furthermore, the both ends of the steel cord layer 7 are wrapped up with the covering layers 9, 10 made of the organic fiber cords. The embedded rubber used for the layer 7 has a 300% modulus of 150-240kg/cm<2>. The widths of the central parts W2, W3 of the belt layer 6 are 30-80% of the overall width W of the layer 7, and the width W1, by which the wrapping parts 9a, 10a of the layers 9, 10 exceed the ends of the layer 7, is less than 10% of the overall width W. |
