摘要 PURPOSE:To improve both resistance to rust and electromagnetic conversion characteristic by providing >=2 layers of diagonal vapor deposition type magnetic layers consisting essentially of Co-Cr-O or Co-Ni-Cr-O, and making the coercive force of the uppermost magnetic layer larger than the coercive force of the magnetic layer adjacent to the substrate side. CONSTITUTION:The 1st magnetic layer composed of (Co80Ni20)86-Cr4O10 is diagonally deposited by evaporation at 30-70 deg. vapor deposition angle thetamin on a substrate 8 of polyester film or the like by evaporating, for example, Co80Ni20 and Cr respectively from evaporating sources 1, 2 by electron beam heating while supplying a trace of O2 from an ejecting port for gaseous O2. Such film is rewound on a let-off core 6 and thereafter the 2nd magnetic layer is deposited by evaporation thereon wherein the 2nd magnetic layer is formed of the compsn. having the larger coercive force than the 1st magnetic layer, for example, (Co80-Ni20)85-Cr14O11. The medium for high density recording having an improved electromagnetic conversion characteristic and resistance to rust is thus obtd.
