PURPOSE:To obtain a magnetic head which is excellent in running property, by forming numerous V-grooves in the back of a substrate blank material and fitting heads obtained by cutting the blank material along the V-grooves to a holder after a thin- film magnetic head section is formed on the surface opposing to the V-grooves, and finishing the surface of the head which is in contact with a magnetic recording medium to an arc-shaped surface. CONSTITUTION:The main body of each head 1 is obtained by cutting a substrate blank material 12 along v-grooves 17 shown by alternate long and short dash lines 18 after numerous parallel or grid-like V-grooves 17 are formed in the back of the substrate blank material 12 and a thin-film magnetic head section is formed on the surface opposing to the V-grooves. The main body 1 is fitted to a holder 8 having an inclined section 10 and fixed to the holder 8 together with a flexible printed board 5 having a lead wire pattern 6. Then the inclined part of the main body 1 of a magnetic head A1, namely, the surface which is in contact with a magnetic tape of the main body 1 of the magnetic head A1 thus formed is subjected to polishing work so as to give an arc-like shape R to the contact surface. In this way, thin-film and small-sized magnetic head A which can secure smooth running of a magnetic tape without any adverse influences to the tape can be mass-produced. |
