The meter is esp. applicable to central systems which produce hot water water for washing, space heating etc. and for which the effective hot water consumption at each consumption point is to be measured. The incident water is divided into two partial flows by a distribution valve (1). One is passed through a volumetric meter (4). The other is combined with the meter flow in a junction (6) immediately downstream of the meter. The partial flow measured by the meter is thus proportional to the temp. of the hot water. There is a max. temp. which may be defined as that for which the entire throughput passes via the meter. A min. temp. may be defined as that for which the entire flow bypasses the meter.
