The invention relates to a plate for anchoring the safety rope of a mountain climber or of a speleologist. The plate 10 comprises a hole for introducing a fixing screw 16, a central opening 24 for passing the rope through 12 and a protuberance 30 bearing against the rock when the screw is tightened. The loop of the rope 12 is traversed by the screw 16 interacting with an expansion bush 18 to constitute an up-stream anchoring point. Application: mountain climbing and speleology. <IMAGE>
