A liquid crystal display device of the TN (twisted nematic) type or the guest-host type for effecting a display of a multi-coloured image uses a substrate 3 having, on at least one portion of that side facing the liquid crystal 1, at least one transparent coloured filter film 5 min ,5 min a covering at least one transparent electrode 4, 4a, 4b adherently formed on the same side of the substrate. In this way a problem in the prior art, of apparent dislocation or dual appearance of boundaries, is avoided. The film may be printed on, thus allowing fine detail in the image, and films of different colours may be applied to different areas. |
