PURPOSE:To have an engine started by a single person by performing decompression for the first compression top and by automatically releasing the decompressed state by the time of the subsequent compression top. CONSTITUTION:An adjusting screw 5 of valve arm 6 of an exhaust valve 7 is provided with a decompressing cam 3 so that the cam 3 is able to touch the screw 5. When an engine-start rope is pulled slowly and rope tension becomes larger during a compression stroke, the rope pulling is suspended and a decompressing lever 1 is operated so that the crest part of the decompressing cam 3 may touch an adjusting screw 5. The exhaust valve 7 is opened forcibly for decompression. The engine-start rope is reset and pulled at a breath this time. Thus, the first compression top is passed under a state of decompression or of no reaction. When the valve arm 6 is rocked at the subsequent exhaust stroke, the cam 3 is returned owing to the action of a returning spring, releasing the decompression. Thus, at the subsequent compression top, a non-decompressed state is obtained automatically. |
