The pipe expansion and contraction joint, for installation in a trench, incorporates an expansion chamber and lengths of pipe passing through watertight joints and connected to the pipes in the trench. Inside the walls the lengths of pipe are joined to compensators, while the joints consist of a number of rings (17,20) of elastic material with rough surfaces bearing against the outside pipe surfaces (14). One or more channels (22) for lubricant and sealant are incorporated in at least one of the rings. A number of the rings are pressed against the pipe by a hose clip (18,21), while the ring containing the channels is also subjected to an axial force. |
