A continuously operating firing aggregate is described, preferably for firing ceramic products, which comprises a furnace body (25) equipped with a heating device (27), a transport track (11) extending through this furnace body (25), carriages (13) which are designed for movement on this transport track (11) and for charging with saggers (muffles) (16) which support the ware to be fired, and a device (17, 22, 22', 20, 30, 31, 21) for advance of these carriages (13), and is characterised in that the transport track (11) is a horizontal transport track (11) guided in the form of a loop, that a large number of carriages (13) is arranged along the entire transport track (11) and that the device for advance of the carriages comprises a loop-like drive member (17) which is arranged along the circumference (19) of the transport track (11) and is coupled to the carriages (13). The firing aggregate makes possible considerable savings in energy consumption for the firing process and in comparison to conventional tunnel furnaces, as a result of the very many greater heating and cooling rates possible, an increase in the firing rate of approximately four times. <IMAGE>
