In order to reduce the friction between the piston (1) and the cylinder's inner surface (3), particularly in the case of an internal combustion engine, at least one sheave roller (9, 10) of such diameter that it projects from the piston cylinder (8) on opposite sides thereof is arranged on the piston pin (6); the circumferential surface (15, 16) of the sheave roller (9, 10) is adapted with respect to axial diametral path to the curvature of the cylinder's inner surface (3), but the diameters are so dimensioned that, according to the direction of the lateral forces exerted by the connecting rod (5) on the piston (1), the sheave roller (9, 10) only bears on one side of the piston's inner surface (3) at any time (Fig. 1). <IMAGE>
