The invention relates to a lifting and tipping device for the emptying of containers, in particular of refuse receptacles, into a refuse-collecting truck or a refuse-compressing installation. Refuse receptacles are handled with the aid of a hydraulically operated lifting means 1, 2, 15, 19 and a tilting-lever means 13, 18. Lateral gripping arms 21 are provided for 1.1 m<3> containers, whereas for the other, smaller containers a lifting comb 11 is arranged on a front frame 1 of the lifting means, and, to prevent the container 25 from crashing down during unloading in the tilting position, use is made of a counter-holder 3 which, by means of a push catch 4 in connection with a pawl 5 and the lower lifting rocker 2, is swung automatically over the opening of the refuse receptacle 25. In the case of large 1.1 m<3> receptacles, the pawl 5 is rotated by means of a bow-shaped feeler 6, resulting in the driver cam 24 of the counter-holder 3 coming out of engagement with the push-in edge 12 of the catch 4. The counter-holder 3 thus remains in its starting position. <IMAGE>
