Adjustable support for partition walls, handrails or the like, consisting of a supporting element having a first threaded part with an internal thread, and of a carrying element which is adjustably fastened thereto by a screw connection and has a second threaded part constructed as an externally threaded stay bolt and capable of being screwed at least partially into the first threaded part, wherein, for the purpose of adjusting the support without relative rotation of its two elements (1 and 2, 3), one of the two threaded parts (4, 9) is mounted rotatably and the other non-rotatably in the associated element (Fig. 1). <IMAGE>
