PURPOSE:To reduce considerably the production of compressive stress in a metallic strip and to prevent buckling and the contraction of area when the strip is cooled with plural cooling rolls, by bringing the whole strip into contact with the rolls. CONSTITUTION:When a steel strip X is cooled with plural cooling rolls #1-#3, the rolls are brought close to one another so as to make the intervals equal to the thickness of the strip X. While the strip X is being cooled with the rolls #1-#3, the strip X contacts continuously with the rolls #1, #2, #3. Accordingly, compessive stress is produced only at the entrance side of the roll #1, and deformation, buckling and the contraction of area can be inhibited between the cooling rolls. |
