1,249,936. Reciprocating pump. J. L. GRATZMULLER. July 16, 1969 [July 25, 1968; April 10, 1969; June 6, 1969 and June 16, 1969], No.35753/69. Heading F1A. A reciprocating piston pump for hydraulic fluid has a body 1 directly mounted on a cylindrical flange 27 on an electric motor 29 by means of a part-cylindrical shoulder 37 on the body 1 and a pair of lateral lugs 31, bolted at their ends to the face of flange 27. The piston 5 is reciprocated by an eccentric 39, and ball bearing 43 mounted for rotation on the motor drive shaft 41 by means of a key piece 89. The pump has an inlet 7 and outlet 9 having ball valve assemblies 11 and 13 respectively. An auxiliary inlet 17 supplies libricant to the piston 5 via an annular space 19, a passage 21 and a groove 23 in piston. The eccentric 39 is aligned with the piston 5 by means of a spacer 65. In a modification, Fig.4, the pump body 1' defines a fluid-filled chamber 47 fed, via an inlet 7', from an overhead tank, and the piston is formed in two parts, one, 49, reciprocable in a cylinder 3', the other, 51, acting as a push rod, engaging the ball bearing 45 mounted on the eccentric 39 which is located axially on the drive shaft 41 by means of a screw 74. A imitary valve member 59 incorporates inlet and outlet valves, a filter 127 being positioned adjacent the inlet passage 126 and a magnetic plug 63 is positioned adjacent the bottom of housing 1' to remove metallic impurities. In a further modification, the inlet 7' is inclined to the vertical to facilitate the removal of air bubbles from the housing 1'. |
