PURPOSE:To reduce the space to be occupied by a titled device and to eliminate the interference to other apparatus by balancing the plural press plates of a multiplaten press and the own weight of work in such a way as to avoid giving influence on the work in the lower stage. CONSTITUTION:Work W are charged between press plates 60-68 and a movable platen 10 and the platen 10 is pushed up by a ram 8. Then a rope 32 fixed to the platen 10 is pulled up and the top end of links 14 is pulled up. As the links 14 turn, the ropes 80-88 of the plates 60-68 are pulled up and all the press plates are pressed to each other. Prescribed tension is applied, in this state, on the ropes 80-88 by cylinders 50-58 and the plates 60-68 and the own weight of the work W are lifted to attain a balanced state. When the plate 10 is further pushed up, the links 14 ascends further and the plates 60-68 receive equally in each stage the compressive force exerted thereon by the plate 10, thereby compressing the work W. The mechanism for turning the links and the mechanism for suspending the press plates may be constituted of a chain and sprocket. |
