PURPOSE:To obtain an optical fiber having accurate outer diameter, by inserting an optical fiber in a tube made of metal, subjecting the metal tube containing the optical fiber to plastic working with a die, roll, etc., and grinding the outer circumference of the metal tube. CONSTITUTION:An optical fiber 1 is inserted in a metal tube 2, and the composite is drawn through e.g. a die 3 to reduce the diameter of the metal tube to nearly the desired diameter 21. The product is machined with a grinder, bite, etc. 4 to obtain an optical fiber having desired diameter. |
