Electroslag welding apparatus is provided with at least two pairs of guide rollers adapted to engage the weld gap on the front and rear sides. The apparatus comprises two parts 10, 11 interconnected by a pivotally connected link 36, the part 11, which includes a wire feed device 21 . . . 28, having rigidly connected thereto two longitudinally spaced rollers 29, 30 and the part 10 comprising levers 13, 14 with weld retaining shoes 15 and guide rollers 16, 17. A pivotally connected link 12 interconnects the levers 13, 14. The apparatus is drawn in the weld direction by a chain 33 the point of attachment of which is such that the weight of the part 11 presses rollers 29, 30 into engagement with the weld gap. |
