PURPOSE:To perform a self-diagnosis, by writing a pattern for self-diagnosis to an ROM of a data input/output device consisting of a tape puncher, tape reader and a printer, punching the pattern to a paper tape and then reading out the pattern for print and comparison. CONSTITUTION:A self-diagnosis program SCPR is stored in an ROM2 of an input/output device consisting of a CPU1, ROM2, RAM3, and a tape reader 4, etc. The SCPR consists of two subprograms. One of these two subprograms punches a prescribed pattern on a paper tape and forming a prescribed number of patterns; while the other subprogram reads the punch by a tape reader 4 and then compares it with a punch input data for print-out 6. It is possible to supply the data to be punched to the paper tape through a keyboard 7 or to punch 5 the data on the paper tape after supplying it from a host computer (not shown in the diagram) via an I/O 8 and then once storing in the RAM3. In such a way, ensures an assured self-diagnosis through a single unit of an input/output device or in response to the host computer. |
