[Also in Division F4] A lamp base 9 is mounted in a printed circuit panel aperture 25 so that filament leads 23 of a capless lamp 19 carried by the base directly engage printed circuitry 27. Projections 21 on the lamp snap-fit in grooves in a recess 12 in the base 9, which is of resilient insulating material, the lamp filament leads 23 lying in grooves in the forward face 16 of a flange 10 and in slots 17 in finger grips 11 on the base. The base is inserted from the rear of the panel 24 and is secured in its aperture 25 in bayonet manner, the panel being gripped between opposed cam surfaces 14, 15 with the filament leads 23 engaging the circuitry 27 on the rear face of the panel. In a modification (Figs. 5-8, not shown) the base (9a) is inserted from the front face of the panel and the filament leads 23 engage circuitry on the front face of the panel, the finger grips 11 being omitted and the cam surfaces (14a) being located rearwardly of the flange (10a). In further modifications, the lamp is bonded to the base, which snap-fits into the panel aperture. |
