PURPOSE:To obtain a printer which can prevent possible waste of a printing ribbon with a faster printing by providing a printing ribbon separate from a carrier to perform printing with the movement of the carrier in both directions of reciprocation thereof for a less weight of the carrier. CONSTITUTION:An RAM 95 is connected to CPU 94 as memory section for temporarily memorizing the number of characters to be printed in the subsequent line and a usable area of a printing ribbon at a part stretched. The printing ribbon is fed with a ribbon pulling drive motor 38 so that the range corresponding to the number of characters to be printed according to signals from the RAM 95 corresponds to the usable area. |
