PURPOSE:To enable a cam ring to be rapidly positively and controllably brought to a predetermined position corresponding to the rotational frequency of a rotor by an action of a large operating force amplified by the change-over action of a flow path in a control valve. CONSTITUTION:When the rotational frequency of an engine, i.e. a rotor RT is increased, the differential pressure between the front and rear of a first orifice 18 in a discharge flow path OL is increased by the increase of discharge flow and a spool 24 of a control valve CV is moved rightward so that a flow path 32 communicates to a flow path 28 communicating to a suction flow path IL through a pressure fluid change-over chamber 33 and a cylinder bore 29 to reduce fluid pressure in a second chamber CB2 and discharge flow as a cam ring CR is displaced. When the rotational frequency of the rotor RT is decreased, the differential fluid pressure between the front and rear of the first orifice 18 is reduced by the decrease of the discharge flow and the spool 24 moves leftward to afford communication between the flow paths 26, 32 and introduce pressurized discharge oil to the second chamber CB2 so that the cam ring CR moves toward the maximum eccentric position. |
