PURPOSE:To execute a guest-host display which is low in driving voltage and is free from decomposition of a pigment by adding a dichromatic pigment, an electronic donor and an electronic acceptor by a quantity by which concentration of negative and positive ions corresponds to each other, and executing DC driving. CONSTITUTION:A dichromatic pigment, and an electric donor and an electronic acceptor serving as an ionic substance are added to a nematic liquid srystal having negative dielectic constant anisotropy by a quantity by which concentration of negative and positive ions becomes equal, and DC driving is executed. Discoloration of the dichromatic pigment can be prevented by adding the electronic donor and the electronic acceptor by pairing them. In this way, it is possible to realize a guest-host display which is low in driving voltage and also is free from decomposition of the pigment. |
