The monitor uses at least two pressure switches which are connected in parallel with the working chamber of a hydraulic cylinder incorporated in the circuit. The two press switches have different response pressures, their outputs being fed to a pre-programmed electronic processor which is coupled on the output side to an all-or-nothing safety cut-out and to a group of hydraulic operating valves within the hydraulic circuit, to block or allow the required movement selected by the crane operator via a control lever. Pref. once the safety cut-out has been operated the control levers for all the operating valves are returned to their neutral position before a further movement can be selected by the crane operator.
