PURPOSE:To control the number of pumps to be operated to a minimum, by setting the number of pumps to be operated by calculating a required flow rate of spraying water basing on the rolling schedule of a rolling material, and preventing simultaneous spraying on the plural materials on a rolling line. CONSTITUTION:A highly pressurized water is sent to the headers 7-1-7-8 of a descaler placed on a hot rolling line by pumps 8-1-8-5 through on-off valves 10 to spray the water on both surfaces of a rolling material 9 for descaling the material 9. The number of jets of the header 7 is set basing on a rolling schedule to input its information to a control device 11 provided to the descaler. A required water quantity to be sprayed within a previously set time is calculated basing on said information and the prediction of a rolling pitch which is prepared for extracting and rolling the material 9 in a heating furnace 1. The required number of pumps to be operated or the number of revolutions of them are decided and controlled for every set time basing on said calculated water quantity and each previously inputted discharging water flow rate of each pump 8. Further, a simultaneous spraying for the plural materials 9 running on the rolling line is prevented and the variation of a water quantity to be used is eliminated by tracking the material 9. |
