PURPOSE:To improve production efficiency by providing heating and hardening devices to a transfer section where the thick plate rolled in a rolling line is sent to a shearing line thereby decreasing the energy required for heating and smoothing the flow. CONSTITUTION:The thick plate cast in a continuous casting machine is rolled down to a prescribed size on a conveyance line and before it is transferred to a shearing line, it is fed to a hardening treatment device 16 provided off the line from the end of the downstream of the conveyance line. The plate is heated in a heating furnace 22 in said device and is thereafter hardened by a hardening device 17 which moves to the outside of the line and is in a standby position. The heat on the upper stream side is used as it is and less energy is required for the heating by the above-mentioned device. Since the hardening operation is accomplished off the line, the entire line flowes smoothly without disturbance in the flow. |
