PURPOSE:To obtain the titled glass having improved chemical resistance, weathering resistance, mechanical properties and heat resistance without raising the melting temp., by providing a novel composition contg. a specified rare earth metallic oxide such as CeO2. CONSTITUTION:The titled glass is obtd. by providing a composition consisting of, by mole, 0.5-27% in total of one or more among CeO2, Pr6O11, Nd2O3, <8% Dy2O3 and Gd2O3, 2-8% ZrO2, 30-60% SiO2 and 20-35% Al2O3. The glass is aluminosilicate galss meltable at <=1,550 deg.C. <=29% Y2O3 and/or La2O3, <=12% Sc2O3 and <=18% TiO2 may be added to the composition, or <=29% Y2O3 and/or La2O3, <=12% Sc2O3 and <=8% ZrO2 may be added to the composition. |
