PURPOSE:To prevent a pinion cutter from breakage when a numerically controlled gear shaper is once stopped under its machining condition that the cutter is just cut in the work, by stopping each rotation of the cutter and the work after the cutter and the work are moved in the direction opposite to the cutting as being maintained in synchronous rotation. CONSTITUTION:At cutting work when a cutter 1, rotated through a reduction gear 3 by a motor 4 for cutter spindle use, and a work 5, rotated through a reduction gear 8 by a motor 9 for table shaft use, are synchronously rotated while a work carrier 10 is moved in the cutting direction X by a motor 13 for carrier use, if a signal is fed to each motor 4, 9, 13 from a numerically controlled (NC) controller 14, the work carrier 10 is moved to a position where the cutter 1 is not engaged with the work 5, and each of motor 4, 9, 13 is stopped. As a result, breakage of the pinion cutter and an abnormal cut mark placed in the work due to a temporary stop can be prevented. |
