PURPOSE:To enable an used tool to be returned at random by juding the combination of large and small diameters of tools attached to a spindle to index and return a holder of a tool capable of being returned when the tools cannot be interchanged in a standard cycle. CONSTITUTION:Tool holders H01-H12 are provided in the outer periphery of a magazine 10. Judging information for discriminating tools held by these holders and the size of diameter of tool attached to a spindle 12 is stored in a memory 31. A tool interchanging arm 13 provided on a spindle head 11 is driven by a arm drive unit 14. When a stop command is once given from a computer 30, the arm 13 grasps the tool, advances straight and then stops after 90 deg. rotation. A NC unit 40 gives tool interchanging command to the unit 14 on the basis of NC data of a tape reader 41. Respective memory areas 31a-31c are provided in the memory 31. The computer 30 functions to discriminate the tools and the combination thereof and activate a search and cycle control circuit, etc. |
