PURPOSE:To prevent increase of inferior goods by setting the axial rake angle and the radial rake angle of a milling cutter into each specific value, thus preventing formation of a built-up edge due to abrasion heat. CONSTITUTION:A chip 4 formed into truncated pyramid form is equipped with the first and the second main cutting edges 7 and 8, and the first main cutting edge 7 possesses the first flank 71 and the second main cutting edge 8, possesses the second flank 81 and the included angle is about 60 deg.. When the chip 4 is to be installed. the tilt angle lambda1 in the radial direction of the first main cutting edge 7 is set into negative side, and the tilt angle lambda2 in the radial direction of the second main cutting edge 8 is formed on the positive side, and the axial rake angle A is set into about 20 deg., and the radial rake angle R is set into about 30 deg.. In this case, the tilt angle lambda1 on the first main cutting edge side is formed into about 8 deg., and the tilt angle lambda2 of the second main cutting edge is formed into about 15 deg.. Therefore, the chip discharging performance is improved, and formation of built-up edge can be prevented. |
