The connecting rod is provided for use in a reciprocating piston engine or the like, in particular for a high-speed two-stroke engine, and has a shank and at least one eye. The shank consists of two longitudinal struts which are connected by a transverse web. The longitudinal struts are connected laterally and essentially tangentially to the eye. An opening additionally formed in the shank is here bounded by parts of the two longitudinal struts, by the transverse web and by a wall part of the eye.
