Interchangeable containers with ink reservoir chambers for an ink printing unit of a typewriter or similar office machine have to be replaced again after emptying with new, filled containers. This replacement must be capable of being performed simply and rapidly without the immediate readiness for operation of the ink printing units after the replacement being put at risk. In this case, above all any penetration of air into the ink feedline must be prevented. This is achieved according to the invention in that the interchangeable container 23 has a locking recess 81 for a locking element 87 on the holding device 19 and a manually movable actuation element 99 by means of which the locking element 87 can be unlocked in order to remove the container 23 from the holding device 19. As a result, the immediate readiness to print of the ink printing unit is constantly ensured even after changing the container 23. <IMAGE>
