The invention discloses a device for the exchange of rolls in a tube rolling mill in a tube production line, in particular in a plug or sizing mill for the production of seamless tubes. The device contains a displaceable slide (23) which is arranged on each side of the path of the tubes to be rolled and can be moved in the longitudinal direction of the tube rolling mill, a plurality of return carriages (26) which can be moved in a direction at right angles to the path of the tubes to be rolled, and a plurality of roll exchange carriages (4), each of which can be moved backwards and forwards by the associated return carriage between a working and a stand-by position. Roll exchange can be accomplished rapidly and with great reliability, allowing savings in terms of work to be obtained and a high productivity to be guaranteed. <IMAGE>
