The invention proceeds from appliances of this type, which have a combustion chamber, an exhaust gas pipe and a suction device. In order for the exhaust gas temperature to drop further from approximately 40-55 DEG C, the exhaust gas pipe is assigned a fresh air connection, in order in this way to achieve an exhaust gas temperature of approximately 30 DEG C and less and an increased separation of the pollutants in a preferably vertical exhaust gas duct. The mixing of the fresh air with the exhaust gases is to take place with the addition of water droplets in a duct which has a substantially smaller cross-section by comparison with the abovementioned, vertical exhaust gas duct serving as separator.
