PURPOSE:To enable the operator to notice the discord of a paper as soon as possible, by a method wherein the format length of a paper set at present is detected, and is compared with a designated format length given from a superior device, in a line printer or the like. CONSTITUTION:Format-designating data supplied from the superior device 1 and stored in an FCB and actual paper format length data detected by a paper format length detecting circuit 4 in terms of folded length of the paper or the like are compared with each other by a comparing circuit 5. When discord is detected, a flip-flop 6 is set, a signal generated by an alarm sound forming circuit 10 is fed to a speaker 9 through an AND circuit 7 and an amplifier 8, and the operator is informed of the discord in a phonetic manner. When the operator confirms this and depresses a resetting switch 11, the system is reset. Accordingly, when an error is made in setting the paper, the operator is soon informed of this so that he can replace the paper. |
