PURPOSE:To make a sensor inexpensive and improve the reliability, by setting intervals of notched parts so that the light is intercepted between elements of the other optical switch when the light from a light emitting element of one optical switch is received by a photodetector. CONSTITUTION:A disc attached rotatably to a steering shaft 2, two optical switches 9a and 9b each of which has a pair of a light emitting element 13 and a photodetector 14 facing each other with the disc 3 between them, and plural notched parts as light-transmissive parts which are formed in the disc 3 so that the light from light emitting elements 13 to photodetectors 14 of optical switches 9a and 9b is allowed to pass through interruptedly are provided. Intervals of notched parts 7 are so set that the light is intercepted between the element 13 and the photodetector 14 of the other optical switch 9b when the light from the light emitting element 13 of one optical switch 9a is received by the photodetector 14.
