PURPOSE:To prevent wrinkles from being generated and obtain a clear printed image, by imparting a fixed tension to a transfer ribbon by a brake gear, in a multicolor printing recorder using a transfer ribbon. CONSTITUTION:The transfer ribbon 6 wound around a ribbon holder 8 in a roll form is applied with a tension between the holder 8 and a thermal head 4 by the brake device 10 fitted to a left side surface of the holder 8. The brake gear 10 comprises a magnetic brake, an output shaft thereof is connected to a rotary shaft, and on the basis signals S1, S2, S3 fed in accordance with the feeding mode of the ribbon 6, namely either feeding of only a paper 1 or feeding of both the ribbon and the paper 1 (in printing) or feeding of only the ribbon, driving circuits 12, 13, 14 are turned ON or OFF, whereby the braking force of the brake gear 10 is controlled to be either of maximum, medium and minimum. |
