PURPOSE:To obtain easily index information for random access in each case, by storing the index information to a storage section, corresponding to each of high density recording disc where relative position information, absolute position information and index information are recorded. CONSTITUTION:A calculation/control section 8 commands the readout of index information to an optical pickup 3 and a pickup driver 5 from an index information recording area of a disc 1 at first. Then, an output of a signal processing section 4 discriminates whether or not the index information is recorded in the disc 1, and when the index information is recorded (that is, in case of type-3 disc), the index information is stored to the storage section as it is. When no index information is stored, the calculation/control section 8 commands the forming of index information to the optical pickup 3 and the pickup driver 5. In decreasing the reading interval of the relative position information and the absolute position information depending on the minimum length of a recording, the index information is known to all music recorded on the disc. |
