PURPOSE:To obtain excellent recording characteristis constantly, by a method wherein a material provided with a coated layer having irregular cracks on a base is used as a recording material in ink jet recording, and a recording liquid having a surface tension in a predetermined range is used. CONSTITUTION:A film-forming resin coating material is applied onto a porous or non-porous base 1 such as a paper, a cloth or a glass plate to produce the coated layer 2. The resin may be any water-soluble or organic solvent soluble resin, and particulates of an inorganic pigment such as zeolite or diatomaceous earth are incorporated therein. The resin component is used in an amount of 5- 20pts.wt. per 100pts.wt. of the particulates of the inorganic pigment. In the coated layer 2 obtained by applying the coating material onto the base 1, minute coloring matter trapping parts divided by irregular cracks are arranged, and selectively trap a coloring matter contained in an ink. A liquid having a surface tension of 30-60dyn/cm at 20 deg.C is used as a recording liquid. |
