PURPOSE:To attain ease of additional recording to a non-recorded part and to display residual amount even at a position in the standby mode, by feeding once a tape to its end and bringing the mode to the standby mode at a position where a reproducing signal is first obtained by rewinding reproduction. CONSTITUTION:A pulse forming circuit 17 is a circuit forming a pulse (digitizing into ''1'' and ''0'' respectively at signal recorded part and no signal part) a reproducing signal from a line amplifier 4 at the rewinding reproduction at the retrieval of non-recorded part and discriminating the non-recorded part and the recorded part. In this circuit, when a reproducing signal as shown in Fig. (a) is inputted to an input terminal 21, an output where the level is at ''1'' for the signal part and at ''0'' for the non signal part is obtained from an output terminal 22. Thus, in seeking a part where this output rises first from ''0'' to ''1'' at the rewinding reproduction of the non-recorded part retrieval, this position shows the end position of the recorded part. |
