PURPOSE:To confirm the property and distribution of fly ash in a furnace as well as the correct distribution of temperature in the furnace by a method wherein the titled device is equipped with a light collector, catching a flame, including smoke and fly ash in the furnace, as the image of flame, a spectroscope having a predetermined function, an image sensor and an operator. CONSTITUTION:An electronic television camera 3 is principally consisting of a light collector 5, catching a flame 4, including smoke and fly ash in a furnace 1, as the image of flame, a spectroscope 9, dividing the image of flame 6 introduced through a space imaging system collected by the light collector 5 or an image fiber into two spectral flame images 7, 8 having wave lengths lambdaA, lambdaB, and image sensors 12, 14 converting the spectral flame images 7, 8 into pickup amounts 10, 11 respectively. An analog/digital converter 15 is connected to the image sensors 12, 13 while an operator 16, operating the temperature and emissivity of the flame 4 from a digital amount 14, is connected to the converter 15.
