PURPOSE:To prevent a working fluid from freezing and provide continuous control of heat radiation quantity by forming a variable conductance heat pipe (VCHP) having heat radiation fins and gas reservoirs into a dual pipe structure and providing a wick and meshes at the inner side and outer side of the inner pipe. CONSTITUTION:In a header 2 for causing a heat transporting fluid from an apparatus to be cooled, a plurality of heat exchange heat 2 is in thermal contact with an evaporating portion 4 of the VCHP 3. Further, the condensing portion 5 of the VCHP 3 is in thermal contact with heat radiating fins 6, and at the forward ends of the VCHP 3 gas reservoirs 7 are provided. As a working fluid of the VCHP 3 methane is sealed in the reservoirs 7, and as a non-condensing gas a nitrogen gas is sealed therein. The working fluid which has been heated at on evaporating portion (b) advances to a condensing portion (a), is cooled and condensed and adhered to a wick 9. Onto the working fluid which has adhered to the wick 9, a capillary force is applied by meshed 10 provided in the forward ends and the inner part of an inner pipe 8. Then, the working fluid passes through the inner pipe 8 and returns back to the evaporating portion. By this VCHP mechanism the freezing of the working fluid can be prevented. |
