PURPOSE:To make it possible to reduce noise and power consumption while enabling high speed printing, by constituting a wire dot printer by providing a hammer having an arm of which one side surface comprising a piezoelectric element and the other side surface comprises a metal. CONSTITUTION:In a wire dot printer equipped with a hammer 3 for transferring ink to paper 5 from an ink ribbon 4 in a head, the hammer 3 having an arm of which one side surace comprises a piezoelectric element 1 and the other side surface comprises a metal is provided. The piezoelectric element 1 comes to extend in a longitudinal direction by applying voltage while one side surface of said arm is secured with a non-extending metal 2 and the arm is bent to a traverse direction because of its bimetal property. The piezoelectric element 1 may be a conventional one and any metal may be used as the metal 3 if having elastic recovery but stainless steel is pref. |
