PURPOSE:To prevent the rising in ink viscosity, by discarding ink at every definite time through an electrode housing used both in the detection of a deflection amount for printing character adjustment and in ink removal for viscosity adjustment. CONSTITUTION:The adjustment of a deflection amount is performed by such a way that an electrode housing 5 is revolved by worm mechanism 22, 23 at a home position HP and the deflection amount is adjusted while the height of a detection electrode 21 is changed. In the removal of ink, a carriage 6 is returned to HP while injected ink droplets are released into the electrode housing 5 through an open window 20 and discharged to an ink recovery tank through an ink discharge pipe 24. At this time, a part of ink droplets are cut so as to prevent ink droplets from impinging to a deflection amount detecting electrode to be discharged along an auxiliary guide 25. By performing this ink removal at every definite time, the rising in ink viscosity can be prevented while the adjustment of the deflection amount can be simultaneously performed and, therefore, the apparatus can be miniaturized. |
